“On the same day, 1000 chefs around the globe will create a unique French dinner. Beyond a celebration of French cuisine, Goût de/Good France pays respect to today’s cuisine: humanist, energetic, diverse, and relevant. Contributing Goût de / Good France chefs all share the same values: sharing, enjoying, and respecting good food and the planet.”
Goût de / Good France is a one-night only event organized by Alain Ducasse and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, where more than 1000 chefs around the globe will honor French cuisine. The project was inspired by Auguste Escoffier, who started the Epicurean Dinners – the same menu, the same day, in several world cities and aimed at as many diners as possible – in 1912. In Japan, 61 restaurants in 18 cities are joining this celebration.
Each chef will offer a “French-style” menu in their restaurant with a cold starter, a hot starter, fish or shellfish, meat or poultry, a French cheese (or cheeseboard) and a chocolate dessert, based on fresh, seasonal and local products with lower levels of fat, sugar, salt and protein,
while remaining free to highlight their own culinary traditions and cultures. French aperitifs, wines and digestifs will be proposed as well.
The menu’s price is at the restaurant’s discretion and they are all encouraged to donate 5% of proceeds to a local NGO promoting health and the environment.
On the night of March 19th, only Beige Alain Ducasse Tokyo’s Goût de / Good France menu, created by Executive Chef Kei Kojima, will be proposed. 5% of Goût de/Good France menu proceeds will be donated to KIDS EARTH FUND
